For Christmas I received a PC program for sailing, it's does help with blues, however can I learn for these?

"Can I learn for these?" - Huh? Did you mean learn from these?
I've tried one or two programs and they're Ok but without the feel of the wind and the tiller in my hand I didn't find them that educational beyond the basics of sail trim and simple navigation. Others might have different (better) programs and a different opinion though.

The ones I have seen are just games offering no real sailing experience. The sound of the water just does'nt do it for me. I guess I could add a fan with variable speeds and have my wife spray me with water while seating on a water bed but where is the sense of adventure?

Ya know, Benny, that might keep your admiral happy, especially if she has something, say a bucket, to emulate big wave splashes. Keep us informed.

DLG, You may learn which sails to use under certain conditions. I got virtual skipper 3 for Christmas and I am sure having fun with mine! There is alot to learn for racing and time trials cause I normally sail solo anyway. For us my friend, we cant't sail on the water right now, so we might as well do some gaming!! Cheers, Brian
If you guys want to really feel like your sailing go to www.sailonline.org and sail. This is a simulater that uses real NOAA weather and true boat polars and on real time. Tonight Leg 4 of the Volvo Ocean Series begins, Singapore to Quingdao. The race will take two weeks, but offers autopilots to allow you to sleep. This is an international site with skippers from all around the world. There are even a few SBO guys there. It is alot of fun and very educational. It is also free!!! All I can say is try it, if you dont like it quit. Ask questions for help, everyone is extremely helpful and kind. Trust me it is harder than it looks.
yes, I also have virtual skipper 3. I get the sailboats to round up in certain wind. Boy, it would be cool if it could teach on weather helm and tell tails. I know I am just dreaming, hey this is winter in colorado, but like the man said, a water bed, three speed fan, and a wife throwing a bucket of water on you, maybe my only hope. thanks again.
