Virginia Sail Lofts?

The winds on the Chesapeake Bay tore a nice gash in my main sail. (totally my fault, but anyway...) I live near Richmond, VA and sail out of the Rappahannock River. Does anyone know a good sail loft in my general area?

Same Thing Happened to me use Potomac Sails

I had my whole main sail rip from on the first reef line. Jack Wang at Potomac Sailmakers did a great job fixing my sail within 5 days of when I brought it in there. His cost for the repair was very reasonable -- $680. Number is 703-750-2171. They are located in Alexandra at the corner of 495 & 395 & 95. Good luck...

Not your fault if it happened yesterday

I had severe damage to my genny (and various other boat parts/pieces) yesterday-Sun-trying to get back from St. Michaels heading west accross the bay into the West River. The winds were relentless and very strong, at least for us bay sailers. Thomas Point shows gusts to 29 knots.A news article says the wind "came out of nowhere". I totally agree.

Area Loft

Quantuum has a loft named Fishing Bay that is located on Rt. 33 in Deltaville. Don Landau is the owner and does very good work. Its a busy time of year for them, but I/m sure they would be glad to help you out.

Windy day

I was sailing alone Sunday, June 2, around Windmill Point to and from Pirate Cove from Stingray Point in our P42. Winds 25+ kts in afternoon. Sailing with full main and reefed jib on beam reach, I sustained 8.5 to 8.7 kts crossing Rappahannock at mouth, at times healing to 25 degrees. Wow. It was some sailing. I went from being glad I was alone, because no one else in my family would have enjoyed this as much as me [they would have been scared], to being scared I was alone, because I was on the edge of being overpowered. But there were no problems.Agree that Quantum in Deltaville is good. They have done everything for us and do it well.

Found a good, CHEAP, one.......

Thanks everyone for your advice. I ended up going with a gentleman in Petersburg, VA named Marc Reynolds (804-590-2090). He is doing a complete repair job on my sail and putting new fasteners on my sail cover and some re-stitching for about $155.00 - that's a lot cheaper than anyone else I could find!
