Vire 7 maintenance

How does anyone do things like change points, pull the flywheel or time the engine on an O'Day 25 CB model? Must the engine be loosened from its mounts & moved back to provide clearance so it can be worked on. One thought is to remove the sink cabinet & cut a hole in the bulkhead to get at the front of the engine. Has anyone done this? Any thoughts about this would be appreciated. I'd like to keep the engine in top shape.

vire 7?

Ed: Pardon my ignorance, please. But what is a "Vire 7"? I assume it is some sort of engine. I am guessing a diesel, but is it a sail drive common to O'days or is it an even better standard diesel set up? Thanks, Mike S/B Pitterpat, Lake Huron

There is a photo under "Forums>Oday Forums>Photo/Project Forum. On the pull down menu, select "25".

Thanks for the tip Ed. I never used the photo/project forum. Nothing covers exactly what I need to do, but it all helps to figure out what I will eventually do . Mike the Vire 7 is a 7 horsepower 2 cycle inboard engine w/ a transmision & shaft not a saildrive. It seems to be a simple well built engine that pushes the boat fine. The problem is getting access to maintain the engine. I believe it is Danish in origin & was/is more widely used in Europe.
