I am trying to remove the light blue and dark blue vinal strips that run below the freeboard of my Hunter 22. I tried to peel them with a sharp blade but the strips come off in very small sections making it very tedious. Doing it with a blade also worries me because I almost scar my gel-coat. Does anybody know any chemicals that will "soften" these lines without harming the gel-coat. Thanks

Heat gun or hair dryer
Last spring I used a heat gun on low and a plexiglass scrapper. It worked great got it all off in about 2 hours. There is a eraser bit that you put in your drill that takes it off also. I hate when people tell me this but, "There is info on it in the archive!" about removing them and the eraser tool. Good Luck. Jason "Slapshot"

Eraser Pad
I think the Eraser Pad is the way to go. It makes very quick work of stripe removal. I ordered one for $7. Tom

Automotive paint store.
You should be able to get one of the 'Erasers' from an automotive paint store. They are typically used to remove 'Pin Stripping'

Hairdryer for me
I couldn't get the eraser pad to do diddly. The hairdryer is easy to control and softens up the tape just fine, as long as you come behind with an exacto knife to peel her off. Caution: Hire a mobile/marine signmaker to put the new stripe on, for it will look much straighter.

The eraser pad was by far easier. Maybe the type of vinyl makes a difference. My letters took hours to remove with a dryer and a scraper. I used the eraser pad on the stripes. Tom

Local sign shop
I had mine done at a local sign shop. I changed my colors. Had the Hunter logo re-done and it was perfect. I traced the logo on a piece of white printer paper and they copied it. They did the name, the reg. numbers in the style I wanted. I even added a strip at the waterline. It looks great. It costed me $60 and it was well with it. I istalled them myself, why have someone else do it when you can do it yourself. Just be patient and let it fly. Once I get my scanner working I will post a picture.
