Victron anomoly

I have the Victron 600 battery monitor.

We've been living on a mooring for the last 2+ weeks. I've been recharging the 900 amp bank when it gets in the upper 50% state of charge range with my honda 2000 powering 2 xantrax 40 amp chargers. Things have been working normally so far.

Friday we were running on 1 charger plus the sewing machine for several hours. When I shut everything down I checked SOC and it was 100%. That seemed high for the time we ran the charger. My guess would have been around 80% or so. Well, 10 hours later we were at 85%. Usually we use 10 to 15% in 24 hours.

So the 100% SOC seemed way too high and dropping 15% in 10 hours seemed extreme. Any ideas? Things seem to be back to normal now 24 hours later.

If the accepted current to the bank was less than 1.5% for general purposes you can consider that "full enough" to do a manual re-set. So if you;re seeing less than about 13A then you are pretty close to full.

You SHOULD NOT have anything on when trying to determine "acceptance" just the chargers charging and connected to only the 900Ah bank not the reserve or start bank too.........

A manual re-set now and then when "known full" is a good idea to keep the battery monitor in check..

Victron Confusled !

A sewing machine is a 'stop/start' kind of load. When 'on' the batt volts would come down so the Honda charger would ramp up to compensate for the discharge and batt volts would climb back to full charge level.
When 'off' the charger would detect an overcharge condition and ramp down again.
Poor old Victron probably has an algorithm to try to average all this out so you thoroughly confused it. I expect it read 85% SOC when, in reality the SOC was much higher.
When you discontinued the torture it stabilised and began to read normally. Must try to be kinder to it.

I had a similar effect on my Freedom (now Xantrex) combo inverter charger.

Sorry, didn't elaborate...the sewing machine was running off the A/C house system, directly off the generator. Not thru an invertor. That's why I was only running one of my 2 chargers.
