Victron 600s negative voltage reading

I have had my Victron 600s for a couple years in my motor and it has worked fine. Today I moved it to my new motorhome.
I ran into a perplexing problem when I put in my battery monitor tonight.
I have double checked all connections.
Everything seems to be working correctly. The monitor shows amps in and out. But voltage reads -.02 volts. I checked voltage on the battery and it show proper voltage.

I tried 2 different monitors with the same results.

Any ideas would be helpful - thanks.

Have you checked the inline fuse? The early models, IIRC, had issues with the fuseholder. Would be strange for everything else to work, I understand, but strange things happen with wonky electrical connections. Good luck.

Since the "amp gauge" works on the negative side of the shunt, I suggest you check all connections for the positive side. Chuck

Connections

Loose connection on the voltage sense circuit.
Also you should look up proper crimping.
Some of those in the pics were done with wrong tool or on wrong side of the terminal barrel, they may work but over time could degrade or fail.

Good luck

Hello everyone,

I am the op and I am still having this problem is a negative .02 volt reading.

I had Victron send me a new red wire with in line fuse.

No change.

Could this be a problem with circuit on the shunt?

Thanks, Rex

replace the grey cable or have it re-terminated, a break in the wire in the cable that take the voltage signal to the display may cause the problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I have cut the grey wire and put a new end on it. I guess I can try putting new ends on both ends.

I will try that.

Any other ideas from anyone?

if the circuit board on the shunt has corrosion, stressed solder joints that could cause an open as well, or if it has been stressed some how it could have a broken trace..
be very careful when re-terminating the signal (grey) cable to be sure the correct wires are on the correct pins. if this is a CAT 5 cable the pairs individual wires are not in order. they also may slip to wrong order as you are crimping the new end on.

Final update - citron 600s negative voltage reading

Just wanted to finish this post.

I replaced all components except for the shunt. Nothing changed.

I contacted Victron and they sent me an entirely new 700 kit. I installed it today and it works perfectly.

Thank you all that tried to help!

Thanks, Rex
