There.is always a natural harmonic vibration in certain rpm ranges. Its a bit like a car with a wheel out of balance. It becomes noticeable particularly at certain speeds. On the boat it could be as simple as a two bladed prop interacting with a two cylinder engine for example. Other culprits are a worn cutlass bearing, crud on the prop, throwing it out of balance, a slightly bent prop shaft , a bent propeller blade, loose motor mount, or none of the above. Some are simple fixes, some are not, and some vibration will never go away completely. I have a similar vibration on my boat that seems to be at its worst around 2500 engine rpm. Still haven't eliminated it.I may spend the money for a flexible coupling between transmission and prop shaft next.

Doug, great list. I would also include the alignment of the output shaft to the prop shaft. I slightly changed this alignment using the adjustments under the engine and it is much smoother...

Do you get these vibrations when not in gear? If yes, there's not much you can do besides checking the engine mounts probably. If not, there's a lot of things to check!
In the past I had lots of vibrations especially above 2000rpm. New engine mounts, new cutlass bearing, alignment, replaced 2-blade prop with a 3-blade prop. Now I get some engine vibrations at mainly 1200-1400, either in gear or not (cannot get rid of this I guess) and some propeller singing at around 1500. Above that everything is smooth.
