I have a VHF radio that the knobs are gummy can you fix that radio is only over one year or so

Assuming it is a name-brand, you can get parts from the manufacturer.

Try and wipe down with Nail polish remover. this will clean them up. The gaskets may be aging behind the knobs and can be cleaned with a Q-Tip

Or you could clean it with Goo Gone.

When people tell me to use nail polish remover on plastics, just remember in essence, nail polish remover is a form of acetone which in many cases will affect plastics and acryillics. I would not suggest that and in fact Goo gone can be harmful too on plastics. I am a model train enthusiast in N scale and have to be very carefull when using these products around plastics. FYI. Suggest using alcohol.

I've had to clean a few hundred knobs from big recording consoles. I take the knobs off (after making careful notes about location ), soak'em overnight in in a bucket with water with some Pine-Sol, then scrub with a toothbrush, then rinse. Dishwasher soap would also work. Alcohol would also be ok, but you'd still want the toothbrush.
