I heard you could (with the use of splitters and addapters) use your VHF radio antenna as a VHF t.v. antenna. Has anyone done this? Does it work? Were did you get the hardware? Thanks, Bob S/V Lady Di II

Damage to TV tuner?

Yours is a good question, and I don't have the answer. But, I'd be cautious about pumping 25 watts of RF power (when transmitting on the VHF) into a TV antenna input that is designed to handle microwatt signals!

Yes, I have...

Buy a PL-259 plug from radio shack and put it on one the end of a sufficient length of RG-59U coax cable with an F-fitting at the other end that plugs into your TV. Buy a PL-258 double female connector, also from radio shack, and screw onto the PL-259 connector above. When you want to watch TV, remove the PL-259 plug on the VHF antenna lead from the back of your radio and scew it onto the adapter. This is the cheap way out, otherwise buy a Shakespeare MAMUAL 2-Way Antenna Selector (West Marine #528786 - $30.00) and simply throw the switch when you want to watch TV. I'm assuming you will watch TV only while not needing your radio! Reception is weaker for the lower channels, but decent overall.
