The VHF plug in the cockpit does not make a good contact to the female
end of the cockpit mic. I see there is corrosion in the male cockpit plug. I tried an electronic spray cleaner. Didn't work.

The radio is old so I can't find a replacement for the plug. I can't get the
plug out. I think they glued it in.

Any Suggestions???:

As good a boat as the Catalina 30 is, repairing and replacing items is a
job.

Thanks, Bobcat30

I don't have any suggestions beyond the normal when dealing with bedded hardware. Heat gun and patience. Where is this plug-- I don't recall one on my boat?

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Unfortunately, you will eventually have to replace outdated items, this includes electronics. You may consider replacing the VHF radio with a new one. This may have a secondary advantage because you will be able to hook it to a GPS so if you push a button it broadcasts your lat and long in case of an emergency.

Trust me, I have a knot meter that doesn't work, just replaced my old GPS that did work but I wanted an update, and at one time I had a wind speed instrument that was not there when I bought the boat but the wiring and bracket is still on the mast.

isn't is amazing tha nobody has come up with a knot meter that doesn't use a paddle wheel that is sure to get clogged in hours. speed over in the water, as opposed by speed over the water which is supplied by a gos, is very useful information.
