Found a great deal on a Polaris VHF/wireless Ram mike and Shakespear 5212 Antenna. Thanks for the tips. Most people seemed to have built a bracket on the side of the mast for the antenna. I want to keep the location of the windex. If I locate the antenna bracket so the windex just misses the tip of the antenna will that interfere with the operation of the antenna? That also allows me to back the boat all the way into the barn without htting the back wall with the antenna. The antenna is only three feet long so I assume most people keep it on while trailering. Is that true?

Clearing the mast

Sounds like you want to put the antenna a little low on the mast so the windex spins just over the tip? If that's the case, then too much of the antenna would be along side the mast, which is not good. The antenna really should be at the top of the mast. Consider buying or making a small bracket to move your windex outboard of the mast. Another option is to use the windex that's designed to pivot around the base of the antenna. I think Davis makes both. Ron Mehringer h26 Hydro-Therapy
