VHF Antenna cable

I'm setting up an alternate vhf antenna on bimini frame. Thinking of using SS cable-tie as plastic ties falls of after baking in the sun.
Question is will the SS tie acts like a choke around the antenna cable restricting/affecting vhf transmission?

No. A proper antenna system will have almost no RF on the outer braid..

I am not sure about how the SS ties would affect the transmission thru the cable, but if you get the good quality nylon cable ties (black ones) from a quality source, they will last for several years in the sun.... the harbor freight kind wont last long at all

when I say they will last several years in the sun, I mean in a NON stress application.... I have the black cable ties holding hydraulic lines on trackhoe booms that are still holding after 8-10 years... and they do get stressed at times.

if the application requires them the be constantly tugged, jerked, and pulled on, its anybodys guess how long you can expect them to last....

What ever you decide to use, do not crush the cable. Just apply enough pressure to hold the cable in place. I am sure you know that, but I just wanted to put a few cents into the topic.

That isn't few cents... Couple of dollars worth at least.

Kinda difficult to get uv resistant cable ties where I'm at. They all claim it to be but haven't seen one. Its like warranty till breakdown.

As long as you don't alter the cylindrical shape of the coax, it should work fine. It's the spacing between the outer conductor and the center conductor that is critical.
