Lieutenant Commander, Naval Aviator (P-3 Orion), 1995 - Present. Three tours Afghanistan, two tours Iraq, 1 tour Kosovo, 1 Persian Gulf odyssey, 1 tour Iceland, 1 tour Sigonella, numerous short trips to every continent except Antarctica. On a Fleet Staff assignment now, my first long term shore assignment ever, and ready to go back to sea (or back in the air.)

[Grin] Ross, from My perspective, you might be getting there...seven bases in seven years by 1957 for me...but then, I was born on an Air Force base (Edwards).

In addition to my Army enlistment noted in an earlier post, my Dad enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1939. He served with the 91st Bomb Group in Bassingbourn England from '42 -'46 and retired from the Air Force in 1960.

My Brother also enlisted in the Army and served from 1957-1960.

When I read some of these Vet posts I don't feel like one. I was in from 1962 thru 1966, mostly on the USS Forrestal with VF-103. As a Firecontrol Technician I worked on the F-8 Crusader then the F-4 Phantom, radar and missile systems. Good times in the Med.

I,too, feel as Ed does (above). US Nany Jun 1953 to Jun 1957 active duty. USS Gainard DD-706 in Atlantic Fleet, home ported in Newport, RI . IC1 in 1957. Then USNR from Jun 1957 til Jun 1961. Never regretted a day of it.
