Any opinions on the VERTIGLAS SYSTEM for restoring a shiny finish to the hull ....

Shiny hull

Rick, I don't know about Vertiglass (Vertglas?) system, but I believe that it's a poly-based product that can eventually yellow and needs to be stripped. I just did my '76 O'Day 27 with the Island Girl products that are available from the Chandlery on this site. I have a white hull with a dark green strake - both were moderately/heavily oxidized and the white gelcoat was heavily stained with black streaks. I used the Sea Glow cleaner/restorer (twice around the whole boat), and followed up with the Superwax. Application was easy (my 10 year old helped out), and the results are excellent. I started out with one of the worst looking hulls at the club, and ended up with great color and great shine. I'm not sure on the durability of the wax yet, but my initial impression is very good. The only problem that I have is that a lot of small flying insects got stuck to the wax before it dryed and I have to rub them out. Good luck! Dan

Island Girl on Deck?

Did you put the Island Girl on the deck also?

Island Girl on deck - not yet

I haven't put Island Girl on the deck yet. As I understand it, their cleaners are fine for restoring the deck, but their sealers/waxes should be avoided under foot. In the GelCoat forum, Jim Willis (from Island Girl)mentions a new non-skid sealer, but I don't believe that it's available yet. Take a look at the GelCoat forum, there are a couple of threads going on deck products. A few folks mention using Polyglow. Dan
