Fellow sailors give me your opinion on Versapak batteries. I have one appliance, a nice B&D Flashlight. Seems the batteries have gone flat and will not take a charge. Replacements are not cheap-$14 to $20 for the VC110 Gold batteries. Probably less than the number of D batteries they replace in the long run, but a bit more trouble than stopping at WalMart.

Should I buy the batteries or just E-bay the flashlight for a few bucks? Or, buy the replacement batteries and look for other places to use the Versapak system. Are there any of other Versapak tools you like as a sailor?

find one of the B&D outlet centers- 2 for $15 or less. I've got their power screwdriver, drill, and dustbuster and they work well

I have the whole versa pac tool setup but frankly I don't use it any more. they seemed to lack power and charge time. It's an older set though perhaps they have made improvements.

Agree w/ the outlet center recommendation. I picked up some spares at an outlet in Delaware. I've had an older B&D screwdriver (fixed speed, no pivot), and it's been pretty good to me. Don't know about any other tools.
