I live in California. My Venture trailer came with tail/brake lights. I just checked with the Department of Motor Vehicles web site then double checked with the local California Highway Patrol office. 1. At night I must have illuminated orange/amber running lights on the front "corners" of the trailer. 2. Because of the boat hanging out from the back of the trailer by more than 3', a. During the day I must have a red flag on the rear of the boat. b. At night I have to have brake/taillights on the rear of the boat. As per the Highway Patrol, if I don't have this then I am liable if I get in an accident. Sure seems like the local dealer should know all this.
