Ventilation system

I looked under the locker that is under the stove and found against the hull the 4 inch duct that leads from the cockpit forward - part of the unique Vega ventilating system.

On my boat the ducts has a T that leads to the engine box via a 4 inch hole in the box.

Is this original? Seems like it would just draw hot air out of the box into the accomodation, or even reverse the air flow were the engine running and drawing air.

I am inclined to block it off but wonder if it exists for some very good reason, as so many Vega details do.Nicholas H. Walsh P.A.

Nico,
My boat has the same setup. No idea what it does, except promote air circulation in some way, so I've left it in place, as I did the other ventilation pieces. I like my dry boat!
