Has anyone in the the 26 and 260 crowd installed any nicro solar vents or equivlant on the boats. My first mate and I are concerned about heat build up in the boat when on dry land. I'm leaning towards placing one on the forward hatch. Where did you place it/them? Jim s/v Java

works great

I have a h 25 and installed the nicro vent in the forward hatch, works great and does a surprisingly great job of not only cooling the boat, but also at keeping the odors and moisture in the cabin to a minimum. Also in my boat the forward hatch is nearest the head, allowing for a convenient way to keeps those odors to a minimum

Solar Vent During Storage

See Photo Forum for my solar vent installed in hatchboard(s). Think photo title is something like "Anti Mildew". Anyway, it has really helped with Florida mildew and odors inside. Cannot report on install as permanent thing since 19 deck is too small now.

Forward Hatch is a good spot

We put ours on the forward hatch 5 years ago and it works great! You don't step on that spot anyway so does not get in the way. With a black plastic cover on the tinted glass you hardly notice it.

nicro vent

Hello, I am wondering what size vent you installed and where you found the cutting blade for it? I bought a 4" vent and don't want to spend another $35 to rent the 4" blade from nicro.

On 260...

The 260s have a hatch above the aft berth that can be locked while open just a crack. It is protected from the elements but provides enough ventilation to keep odors and mildew at bay.

Installation on hatch

I installed a nicro vent on the forward hatch of my 35, and a passive vent in the cockpit in the aft berth. If you are doing it yourself, its worth the $15 to buy the 4" (or whatever size it is) hole drill bit. I but my hole in the hatch with a sabre saw. You can do it but its a pain in the ass, the plastic melts as you cut the hole, and its hard to get it the right size.
