I am thinking about putting in two passive cowl vents, one into the main berth and another into the head. I have already installed a solar vent into the front hatch. MY DELIMA IS, should I install the passive cowl vents through the deck, between the hatch and the main traveler, or totally redue the hatch, including the hatch opening and locking mechanics and plexi glass, and install a couple more solar vents diredctly into the hatch. I want to go the easy route and install straight through the deck with two passive cowl vents. Two boating buddies have scared me by saying that I will weaken the deck and could cause leaks, and if I have a balsa core, ruin my boat. ANYONE KNOW WHAT TYPE OF CORE A 1990 VISION 32 HAS AND ANY COMMENTS ABOUT MY DELIMA????

Found the answer

Just in case someone else has a similar delima. I called Hunter, they told me going throught the deck was OK. They also said, cut the hole, then add filler in the one inch gap between the outter deck and inner ceiling, all the way around. This will then strenghten the deck at the holes and also prevent any water from entering just in case the caulk fails for any reason. I am installing this weekend.

Be sure that there are no wires

Just be sure that you do not end up cutting through any wires. In many of the Hunters there are wire chaces in the cabin roof. Be sure that you have a good seal of the inner core. If this ever starts to leak you will be talking about big bucks to fix it.
