Hello owners of catalina 25's and 27's. I am contemplating the bigger boat, I have a 22' now. There will be times I am sure, when transporting will be necessary and I am curious about what vehicle is adequate for pulling and getting a larger boat in and out of the water.Thank you ! David

You can do it with a 250...

Whether its a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge - that's your call. You might be able to squeak by with a 150 for a Catalina 25, but if you routinely trailer it, I wouldn't go below a 250. If you'd like, I can get you the rated tow capacity listed on my new Chevy 1500. Best Regards, Rob Rich

C-25 Towing

I just sold my 1981 C-25 and pulled it with a 2 wheel drive Chevy Tahoe for 6 years. Moving up to a C-320 or 34 mkII. Boat, trailer

2WD works with extension

I learned this from a j-24 owner who used an econoline van, believe it or not. He would use a 25 to 30 foot length of hemp type rope (3 inch diameter or so) to allow the vehicle to get far enough away from the slime to pull the trailer out when retreiving, or to allow the trailer to head down the ramp when launching. Works great, but you have to be able to go 20-30 feet past the top flat section of the ramp with the tow vehicle. Personally, I would not want to tow, launch, retreive or step any monohull over 22 feet - too much work. I find a slip to be much more enjoyable. Best Regards, Rob
