Vega Repower

Hi All,

July and much of August were spent repowering with the Beta engine.
With much help from Steve and Stanley Feigenbaum (Of Beta Marine US)
the project was a complete success. That moment of turning the key
and hearing her purr was profound. We then left for a three week
cruise, got about 50+ hours on it with absolutely no trouble.

For those still living with the ol' MD6A I strongly encourage making
the switch. I'd put tons of time and signficant cash into nursing the
old Volvo along ultimately to no avail. It's remarkable how
comforting it is to know that when you're drifing down on your
neighbor's yacht a slight burst in reverse brings immediate relief.

For any who may have questions, Steve knows all the answers, but I'd
be happy to offer any perspectives I may have gleaned from the process.

Sincerely,

Victor

Hi Rob.

Just been informed by Steve Birch your Vega is coming to Bangor soon
(hope this is correct). I live literally down the road so if you want
any help/advice get in touch. Re-engined my Vega this year and very
pleased with the Beta.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,
Yes I was coming to Bangor. I phoned them this morning and they said they are full?
I was there on Saturday and they where not full then?
they said they will see if they can fit me in!!

Just read the instillation notes and didn't know I had to drill and tap anything?
I'm getting a creeping feeling it may be a tad harder than steve has let on...

List:

When visiting the photos section of the AlbinVega site, I get the
following two messages:

*Warning! Your account is restricted since it is over quota.*
Delete enough photos and/or files to bring your account within quota.

*Storage Notice!** Using 30.38 of 30 MB (101%)* of your
Photos/Briefcase quota.
You are running out of space.

For the last two years I have been editing uploaded photos on the
website to reduce their size and then replacing the originals. In that
way we've been able to retain all photos uploaded without exceeding our
alloted space. Now, however, we've run out of space in the photos
section and are close to maximum in the files section. Due to the
number of photos we upload, further use of the size reduction strategy
won't save enough space to matter over time.

Unless someone objects, in a few days I intend to start culling photos
from the site that I think are of limited interest. My preference is to
keep photos that show useful modifications or "how-to's", but if anyone
has another suggestion for how to proceed, please let me know. In the
meantime, you may want to visit the photos section to download whatever
you want, just in case.

Hi Rob.

Hope you get into Dickies OK. I have all the drills/taps etc for the
engine mounts, even some steel if you need bearer plates left over from
when I did mine. The only tricky bit is lifting the old/new engine
out/into the boat (I done this with some scaffold and a chain hoist) and
final alignment of the engine (more time consuming than anything else).

Keep in touch.

Ray.
