Vega owners in Southern California

I just returned from the Vega International Friendship Regatta in Denmark, and met a member from the German Vega Association, who will be vacationing in Orange County, California later this week. He asked me if it were possible to find any Vega owners in that part of California, as he would like to possibly arrange a meeting. His name is Rainer Huke, and he speaks English. Anyone interested ??? Incidently there were over 85 Vega's in the marina !!!, from the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Unfortunately no American boats, and only one other American, Ross Dring from Chicago, who has attended a few of the previous IFR's. At any rate a wonderful time was had by all!!! Definately an event to be experienced. The next one will take place in Gotheborg, Sweden in 2004. Frank Gallardo, sv Cin Cin , V-2184__________________________________________________________________

I have the instruction manual for the MD6a from 1972,
including information and pictures of the combi
transmission.

Also, there is a Volvo Penta workshop manual for the
engine. the manual has some volvo parts stickers in
the back...reminds me that I have some special tools
around here somewheres...the puller for the injectors
was made in Sweden and cost 135 us. The injector
sleeves were made in the UK and cost $24.00. The
o-rings for the sleeves were made in Malta. and the
drift for sizing the copper sleeves was made in
Sweden. Just trival history. lol

This is the last act of disvestiture of volvo parts
and now the manuals. If I find the tools, I'll put
them up later....I may have given them to the
rebuilder in Bay City...Kipfmillers Diesel Repair.

Just in case anybody is looking for an injector and
pump rebuilder.....Diesel Injection Technology, Bay
City Michigan, 989 892 0557 (last known number).

They rebuilt the pump and injectors for me in
1997...pump was about $550, and the injectors were
about $150.00, or more.

If anybody wants the books, drop me a line at
jefframage@.... Both books are in good order,
except for the 3 hole punch so I could put them in my
binders.

Hi All

The instruction manual and workshop manual will soon be on the combined US and
UK CDROM. The first copy has been sent to Chuck so keep listening out on the
group.

Ken,

sorry, but they were spoken for with in minutes of
sending out the note.

Good luck with the cruise north! They are tough
little engines, if cared for and pampered alittle.

fuel pressure, fuel cleanliness, and the internal
cooling passages were the biggies on my MD7A.

other than those issues, pretty much would getcha to
the moon and back.

Steve, I sent you a check in US Dollars to Diana Webb for the transom vents. Two. I used an exchange rate of 1.75.That should more than cover the expense as the rate is approx. 1:1. Thanks for the opportunity.

fuel pressure issue that I had was on the suction
side.....added a Racor 2 micron pre fuel filter and
separator....filter would begin to fill up with little
dead algea bodies........and pressure drop became too
high, is my assumption and the fuel flow fell below a
minimum......so I use a 10 micron filter now. that is
what most of those who know use, near as I can tell.

All the old dead algea built up in the system and
plugged up the pre filter. then I would change the
prefilter, and have to thumb pump the fuel pump to get
all the air out....not really pleasant.

the electric fuel pump can make short work of it.
