HiI added two photos in the album 'Alma V1185'. Pictures are from Series I Vega and the blugs are in the port side. The drain blug is about 47cm from the rudder and about 36cm from the keel bottom. The other picture shows the place of the iron keel (phote taken when the temperature changes rapidly in January). The cotton line in the the first picture (small plug) keeps the keel dry during winter.TimoAlma V1185

Hi My Vega, Kalista, #1454, is set-up like yours, Timo. Does the cotton in the bottom hole wick moisture out? If so, where is the moisture coming from? I mean, what is behind the lower drain plug? I haven't had mine out yet. Is there a cavity below the bilge? Carl To: AlbinVega@yahoogroups.comFrom: timoka08@...Date: Sun, 30 Mar 2014 11:54:25 -0700Subject: Re: [AlbinVega] Vega keel rust

HiI bought the boat about 6 years ago. In the first Autumn I noticed there's some moisture when I opened the lower blug (screw). Maybe the the blug was not properly mounted by the previous owner. After that I have not seen any moisture (the cotton line is there to get (condence) water out if any during cold winters). There seems to be some "empty" space/void below the bilge and behing the the iron keel. I am not sure is the space filled with foam. The upper plug goes to bilge and I open it every Autumn.Timo

HiIt seems my reply vanihed for some reason. The cotton line is there to get moisture (condence) out during cold winters.
