Hi dave, Just noticed your sale posting and already have a Vega #2137 that I may be selling in next 6 months. Appreciate all the work you have done and was noticing the hatch on the bow which looks like you modified to a Bomar or something akin. As the original is poor construction would you mind giving me some advice on this modification. Would much rather modify than repair if it is not too hard ! Hi-

A previous owner had actually installed it. Didn't look too hard though. It's mounted on a ring of teak, which was cut/sanded to match the contours of the deck. Around the shoulders of the wooden ring and encapsulating the outside are a radius of thickened epoxy and a couple of layers of light glass, which I added. The hatch is then just caulked and screwed in to the ring.

With some reluctance I have decided to sell Vega 2365 which I have owned since 1975. She is berthed? at Powell River , BC. See her there, or further info by email if interested.? Hugh

Hi Hornby Island PosterBeing technically challenged I managed to delete your mail instead of replying! Please email me again at hughniven@....Vatersund's Netscape address seems to be defunct!. I thinkV2364 is in above average condition for her age, but of course I am prejudiced. I shall tell you more about new parts etc when I have your address. Had a good sail this afternoon in that south-easter, and looked across at Hornby from the end of Texada.To the other current subject, sacrificial anodes. As I said, I have had Vatersund since 1975, the original owner having abandoned off-shore dreams after only a few months. He had, however, had a bolt welded aft?of the prop-shaft which carried a large zinc, much?corroded. More worrying were? bright patches on the prop. I knocked off the bolt and have not used a sacrificial anode since. There has not been any further sign of?electrolytic activity on the prop or elsewhere. I realise that this is a single?observation in fairly cold water, but? have since wondered whether we do more harm than good with zincs.

Hello,

I am parting with my Vega. She is a freshwater Vega that I have used to daysail on Lake Champlain. As such, almost no electronics save for
a VHS radio and a sounder. The hull, deck, sails and motor (md6a) are in good condition. The cushions need to be redone and there other small things that can be done to equip her to your taste.

I am asking $12,000 obo and shall be happy to send more info to interested parties, She is called Vatersund (Water Sound) in nostalgic memory of the sound in Orkney where I sailed as a boy!
