Vega and VODCA Newsletters & Practical Sailor

Hello, again. I just rejoined the group, after time out to complete a
book.

I have the following publications which I am offering to the first
Vega owner I hear from. All that I ask is to be reimbursed for the
shipping charges. As you will see, most are in three-ring binders. I
can send them as is, or remove them from the binders if you want to
save shipping costs.

VODCA (Vega One Design Chesapeake Association) Newsletters - in 4
binders. 1980 thru 1989

Vega Newsletters - in 2 binders. 1990 thru 1994; in file folders 1995
thru 1998

Practical Sailor - in 9 binders. 1985 thru Feb 1995

(The binders are recycled binders, mostly from various, non-nautical
equipment manufacturing companies.)

Hi Dru,

What a Treasure! I would like to accept your offer so that I can eventually have them scanned and put on a CD. Wouldn't that be cool. Then the archive could be made available to everyone at a reasonable cost and in a durable and compact medium. I live on my boat however and keeping all those paper archives would be impossible at present. I would have to have them sent to my office and, as time permits, convert them to electronic media, then dispose of the paper, probably by offering them as you have done to the group.

All things considered, I will defer to anyone else who wants them and hope that they are able and willing to accomplish the above more expeditiously than I can.

Aloha,

Hi there
I can take care of this, I have the necessary equipment, and unfortunately
don't live on a boat yet.
I could also try and publish them on the net, so anyone interested can read
them.
Let me know if you want me to do it.
Thanks

Well, whoever winds up with these, I hope that they can be made available on CD. Since my scanner died I've been lost. I'm just waiting for my boss to let me get a new one (Problem is I've let everyone else replace thier systems in the last two years and put myself on the bottom of the list)I really need a complete new system.

Anyway, as editor of the newsletter, an archive of Sidney's old work would be invaluable. Remember, only about half of North American VEGAtarians are on-line and the other half depend on the conventional newsletter to keep in touch.

Dru,
It appears your offer has stirred up quite a bit of interest. In the best interests of the Association, I agree with Chuck, they would be better off with someone who will be able to offer them to rest of the group (on-line). I also do not own a scanner, and even if I did, I wouldn't know where to start. (I'll still be able to read them on line).

Hi all
I could take care of scanning the newsletters, making them available on the
web site, and probably I could also put in place a system that takes orders
over the web and burns the CD's with the newsletters - I work as a software
developer.
Let me know what you think
Thank you
