VC17 prep. question

Hi Jim,

In looking at the Interlux site, they recommend when going from VC 17 to VC Offshore...to remove the VC 17 first. I realize that was not your experience as you essentially when directly over the VC 17 with VC Offshore. How successful was this? Did the VC Offshore adhere ok? Have others that made this simple switch been as successful?

The thread ended in Dec before Steve got his reply. I have the same situation and question. I'm bringing a sailboat down from Ontario having VC-17 bottom in pretty good shape and would like to prep and coat with VC Offshore. Some have done it, I know. How well it did this work in the Chesapeake? Interlux has conflicting info, but application notes implies yes you can put over other vinyl paint, which VC-17 is. but the compatibility chart implies "no". Any help out there? I wonder what VC-17 users in Ontario do when they come south to the ICW? Thanks....
