The previous owner of our 1983 Sabre 34 was kind of sloppy and we have inherited lots of small and some not so small spots of varnish on the decks. We have tried several products without any luck. Looking for a product that will remove varnish spots without harming the decks. All suggestions welcome.

Thanks ....Jack

I have the same problems with spots old varnish from at least 2003. Consideeing using paint stripper. It worked when stripping the wood.I don't think it would harm the gelcoat but I would test it first. Acetone might also work.

A paint remover specifically for use on gel coat will work. Easy Off oven cleaner should work too. Many people have used Easy Off to remove the painted on boat names from their transoms with great success.
