Phil , I would love to hear it. I have seen the aluminum deadeyes and synthetic rigging discussed elsewhere but I can't remember when or where. This poster seemed, to me, to be taking a backdoor approach to promoting a product.

That's what I thought, too. Not the end of the world I guess, but it just p's me off. Posts that read like brochure copy... not my favorite.

Well...someone put something together and post it. I just bought a synthetic winch cable for a machine I am building. It's made of ultra high density polyethelene and used to replace steel cables. It's 1/4' and hold like 12,000 lbs. But I am sure some one on here is already using it for halyards or something.

Ultra high molecular weight PE is basically what some of the newer synthetic lines, like Dyneema or Vectran are.
