Catalina Value
Hello.I just recently bought a 1974 Catalina 27 standard rig with a fin keel. The man I bought it from was asking $6,500, but I offerred him $6,000 and he accepted. My particular boat has a 9.9hp outboard in a well. Mine came with 3 sails (1 main and 2 jibs), roller furling on the headsail, all lines led aft, radar, depthmeter, knotmeter, installed vhf radio, solar charger, 2 burner stove, pressure and manual water, and all cushions in great shape and the bilge had dust in it. The exterior needs a good power washing, but the interior is nearly flawless. What the other gentleman that replied said was right. If you can afford a survey (I couldn't), get one. Your insurance carrier may require it anyway. Depending on the equipment included and the material condition of the boat, that sounds like it could be a great deal. The Catalina 27 was on the list of the top 20 sailboats that can take you anywhere in the world. That's a pretty good endorsement to me! Good luck, and if you want to see some pics of mine so you can compare material condition, e-mail me at: kevinmorton64@yahoo.com.By the way, I LOVE my Catalina, and if this one is in good shape, I am sure you will too.Kevin M.
