I have a 1987 sabre 42 and I am planning to install a vacuflush toilet in the aft head. I have to do some carpentry for the a better fit. Has anyone had experience modifying the original toillet base to fit a larger toilet?

Suggest you consider other toilets

There are several which offer everything the V/Flush does and more...and wihich have all the "works" in the pedestal instead your valuable storage space. And for a lot less less money! One of several should have a pedestal that'll fit your space without the need for any carpentry.

I'm really impressed with the new Raritan Elegance. You can read all about it here: http://www.raritaneng.com/products/toilets/electric/marine_elegance.htm

The Tecma Tecma, Marine Division is currently the "gold standard" against which all other electric toilets are measured...half the mfrs in the industry have tried to clone it. The Silence is the most popular model. If there's a raised platform in your aft head, the new Easy Fit may be the answer...Tecma doesn't show it on their website yet, but it's on a distributor's site here:

All of the above are available for around $800, btw, and are very easy to self-install.

Thank you very much for the recommendations. And I have read your book.
