As a new Vega owner have few more questions. 1. where could I purchase MD6A oil filter?
2.I will replace fuel tank (remove old one from the bilge and put new one in the port side). Again, any suggestion which fuel tank to buy for the port side installation. I'm in New York state.
Can't wait to put the boat in the water.
Thanks again. Mark V1472

I live in Ireland - I get fuel and oil filters for MD6A in my local (truck and van) diesel engine supplier.
Not expensive, less than E5 each.

When I bought the boat the engine block took "male" spin on oil filters. Very difficult and expensive to get.
A mechanic managed to get a conversion kit from Volvo Penta for about E100 :-( . Now I can use cheap car oil filters so I save money in the long run.

I can post part numbers and photos here if you need.

Hi Mark,

On my MD6A, it has always had a standard model Fram automotive (or equivalent) oil filter. Im not at my boat so I dont recall the exact part number.

I also moved my fuel tank from the bilge. You dont really need to purchase another tank if the old one is still good. I just shortened all the hoses and used nylon rachet straps to secure the tank against one of the wooden bulkhead (wall) inside the locker area.
