V-Birth Cushion Design.

I Making new cushion for the whole boat. The v-birth currently has 2 cushions running front to back split in the middle. This makes it difficult to access the storage under them if the v-birth is made up for sleeping. So I want to make the cushions so they are running side to side, but this would mean that you will be laying across. the sections. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and if so if laying across the cushion causes a problem? Greg

On our 1990 H-33.5, the Vee Berth has 2 cushions, but they go from side to side as you say you are planning to do (this puts the joint line going from side to side. I suppose you could do the same with 3 cushions instead of 2. Just size each to fit the whole vee berth.

...the Endeavour. It has worked great for getting under the cushions into the storage space there. If you put the seams in the right places (not where your shoulders/hips/knees are) you will never know the seams or there. It is actually better than the split longways in that regards.

Also now it is also easy to make the bed if you modify the sheets standing up at the head of the berth ....

... You put the bedding on the foot cushion then slide that in and follow with the other cushions on the rest of the bedding. No more climbing up in there and trying to make the bed on your knees.

Foam Factory Frustrations

First, thanks for the replies. Sum I had thought you did this I should of looked.
I am going to go with the side to side layout.

Let me start the rest of this out by saying I am not trying to make The Foam Factory Inc. look bad This is more frustration with where I chose to reside. I ordered my foam in mid November, 14th I think, been waiting been waiting patiently. No foam, so I e-mailed them Sunday I got a quick response on Monday. They say they have been trying to call me and want another $202.00 for shipping. WOW!!! I already have over $600.00 in this project already, and I got the fabric at 50% off. The foam was just over $300.00. Living in the middle of nowhere has it draw backs.

Were you dealing with the foamfactory? We got all of our foam from them. Great selection, great prices and free shipping in the contiguous US. We now save even more by getting the foam from their wholesale site (they sell to anyone)....

..... They don't cut to size but a $15 electric carving knife does that easily.

The freight is not free to Alaska :cry: but it does look like it shouldn't be that much if this is right ....

That is strange? Their wording on the two different sites doesn't seem to agree with each other. Did you order from the wholesale site I posted above or the retail site? Wonder if it makes a difference?

Progress and Answers

I Did use the wholesale site and that quote came from that site, Sum. They are wanting to ship UPS so when I call Monday I will see if they can ship USPS much cheaper to Alaska that way. Well I have 2 covers done and 6 more to go.
