The v-berth vent is supposed to be closed from the inside by "srewing" a plastic plug into the opening. Unfortunately, the plastic threads on the inside of the circular opening have worn away, and I cannot plug the vent to prevent water from entering. I hate to permanently close the opening by sealing the plug. Would anyone know how to deal with this situation? Also, the semi-opaque plastic plate that lets some daylight into the v-berth is cracked. Where could I get a replacement piece? Thanks for helping out.

Try this

Why not try a plumbing sealer like teflon tape around the remaining threads and if this does not work try plumbers putty and if that does not work they have liquid thread sealers that are messy to put on but stay flexiable. Good lUck

Look up Plastics in Yellow Pages and find a place to buy Lexan. Remove your old lens and take it to the plastic place and have them cut you a new one. Cost about $40. If you want to cut it you can with a band saw, leave the paper on the lens. Mark the holes and I cut them out with a wood bit and a drill press. Take it to a glass shop and have the lens set and sealed in the frame, cost about $10. As for the latch you should be able to order them from Catalina Direct. Order the O rings as that is what will seal the plug and stop the leaking, assuming you can tighten the underneath screw. You will part with about $85 for a new lense from Catlina Direct.
