The V berth cushions in our Catalina 28 aren't as comfortable for sleeping as they were ten years ago. Our backs have become less tolerant. Anybody have success with a cushion covering or mini mattress ? Foam? Buying a larger boat is the best answer but that's not happening.

Cushions

It may be that the foam in your cushions is just getting worn out. If the covers are still good you can just replace the foam. It comes in different weights so you can have it firmer if you wish.

The older I get the less any bed feels good . I bought a Queen 1-1/2" foam mattress pad from BJ's. It has the nicest cover I've ever seen in a mattress pad. I cut the foam using the cushions as a template and left the cover alone. It's made a huge difference. Not cheap! If I remember it was around $200.00.

There is usually an add in the Catalina Mainsheet magazine forThe Tufted Topper. I see some favorable comments in the archives from years ago...can anybody give some recent experiences with this product?...is it worth it?

We have a 30 and we purchased the 3 inch memory foam topper from Costco and it has been one of the best things we did. I would do it differently though, and still might: I bought the FULL and then cut it down to the V shape, and filled in the spaces needed with the cut away pieces. Though that worked fine, for $10 more I would have just needed to cut the V shape and be done with it......

For the price it is a great great improvement.

oh, BTW, the price for the 3in. memory foam at Costco was $139 Full and $149 Queen. Low price for high comfort!

Bill , I took my old vberth cushions into a foam shop, bought a 6" queen sized bed foam mattress and had the shop cut it to match the Vberth cushions (just to side by side pieces) and they covered it with light weight mattress cover material. I sleep as well as I do at home.... There is nothing worse than a sore back ofter a bad night's sleep on the boat.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Take an egg crate matress pad and put it overtop the existing cushions. It adds a lot of comfort to the V-berth
