Utter lack of rail mounts, for anything

I've looked for rail mounts for many things in the past, and I usually come up empty. IE: Garmin chartplotter, either GPSMap 76 handheld or 441. Found Edson makes one for about a million bucks, but that was the only one. I saw a hndlebar mount from Garmin, but it was the wrong angle (need vertical), and the wrong diameter.

Now I'm looking for a way to rail-mount a Raymarine autopilot control head. Found Navpod's stuff, for about 2 million bucks.

I'm not good at making home-made stuff look good, so i'd like to not work with Starboard, and am willing to pay for a good solution, just not the unbelievably rediculous prices I've seen so far.

It seems that with all the 1" tubing around wheels and pulpits, there would be more rail mount stuff.

Any ideas?

A while back in a copy of GOB some guy mounted his Raymarine AP head in a waterproof PVC junction box. I have to admit it ending up looking a lot better that I thought it might. If you need to rail mount it, get a small RAM Mount and attached it to the back.

I have a bunch of these on my boat. I have used them to mount speakers, windvane turning blocks, MOB poles, etc. They can be used to mount just about anything to a rail.

those are railmounts. i have seen em in chandleries...not pricey. i have seen abi mostly..sea dog...good luck....

+1. Cut backing plates and mounted the clips for our Tacktick displays using similar mounts to those above. First picture is just the backing plate and clip, second shows the displays installed. We didn't have to worry about wire management, but I'm sure you can think of something.

Rail mount options for virtually anything, in almost any place. Also sold at West and other places.......but very affordable for most every application.

There was a guy in Texas who made preassembled mounts in starboard for many items: cell phones, Garmin 76s, etc. We have one for our Garmin GPSMap 76 Cx, clips onto the binnacle rail. Sorry, don't have the name, I'll try to look it up later.
