Has anyone used Penitrol (spelling ?) directly on the top cabin or hull surface as a brightner. My top cabin is dull and someone suggested applying several applications of Penitrol to brighten it up and yet it is not slippery. I know that West Marine carries the product. If it works it sure beats rubbing compound and polish. Also has anyone heard of Daly's Sea Fin (spelling ?) as an interior teak treatment Thanks, Tarheel

Penetrol

I have used Marine Penetrol on my mac 26x for several years now with good results. It works best to apply several small coats and buff right away. After I get the gloss restored I use a good wax, such as 3M to finish it off. If you get some on a white surface and don't mop it up right away it will leave a slight waxy yellow cast to it.

Rub it on

You can buy Penetrol at Home Depot in the paint department. Make sure you use product that has never been frozen. Just wipe it on thin with a clean cloth and move on. It makes a huge difference in old faded glass.

Penetrol on White Surface

Tom; The top of my cabin is "white" and that is the main area that I'm concerned with. Its dull but not overly oxidized. Tell me it's OK to use it on that surface and follow it up with a Good quality wax. Thanks Tarheel

Penetrol - Rub it on

Steve; Can it be used on the entire boat? My top deck which is white is dull and needs to be brightened up. Its not heavily oxidized so maybe Penetrol will do the job.

There may be a mold problem

A search in google for - penetrol fiberglass - found that penetrol may promote mold growth and is very hard to remove. And the attached link doesn't sound good. I would like to hear more about it before I put it on the boat. Has anyone used it for more than a year?

MC-2

MC-2 is a paint additive that might work to inhibit mold in penetrol. Another option is M-1. I haven't used either in oil-based paint, but M-1 works in latex paint.
