I converted....
I converted tiller to wheel on my Islander 30. I bought a used pedestal. It came with some misc. pieces, some of which were useful, some were not. The chain was good, the wire had been cut so I replaced it with wire from an industrial supplier. Edsons catalogue is pretty good and if you look carefully, you can buy the specialized custom parts from them, and the rest can be gotten on the market for about 1/2 price. Things like wire, take up eyes, thimbles, clamps, bolts, etc. can be found elsewhere much cheaper. There are deals to be had if you take the time to look. If you are handy, it is not a difficult project but you do need to use skills that you developed elsewhere to make it work. The compass was cloudy and had been submerged somewheres along the line. I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced the fluid for less that $20 and it is fine.Edson has a site that lists most boats and what is needed for the conversion.Rick
