I currently have Signet Instruments on my 1981 Pearson 323. The Knot/Depth combination unit has decided to act up. This unit is 5.5"x5.5" in size and the new replacement units are larger and will not fit in the existing mounting hole. Does anyone out there happen to have such a unit as surplus that is For Sale. The model number is 1000 or 1000A. Thanks, Tarheel

Just replace it

The Signet 1000 / 2000 systems were a pile of trouble. Worse still, the depth units were very unpredictable, and you'd end up aground in "100 feet" of water. Just make an adapter bezel, and install a raymarine. You'll need a new transducer, but it's not a huge job. Either just install new through hulls, or use the old locations.

Couple of sources.

Cannot entirely agree with Arthur. My 1979 Signet log and depth still work just fine. But I have added a complete Nexus(now ComNav) system because of comments like his. You could try the Signet company(Related Link) and E-Bay as possible sources. Where is the display mounted that the hole cannot be easily enlarged?

replace

Arthur is right, Signet was junk. Don't replace junk with junk.
