Used Sails

We have a huge assymetrical spinnaker that came with our boat...its beautiful except for a one main thing ... the center of the sail has a HUGE "Porsche"Logo sewn as a panel ...ITS HUGE......I was considering bringing it to a sail maker have them take the panel out and install a new on...or sell the sail and buy a new one. our "I" dimension is 52' so like I said its a big sail.This would be great if I owned a Porsche or worked for them but Im a jeep guy myself....Any Ideas??......consignment shops??..ebay??...is that the route?

Paint the Porch!

Hey, Rob...Keep the sail as is and tell everyone the old Lena and Ole joke:Ole was out of work and went around the ritzy neighborhood of the town to see if he could do some paintin' He went to this one guy's house and said, "You got any paintin' you want done?" "Yah, sure... here's a bucket of paint, you can paint my porch out back -- twenty bucks". "Okay" says Ole. Not more than a half hour later he rings the doorbell. "You done already?", says the owner. "Ya... I paint the Porsche real good -- and also the BMW dat's dere, too!"Just tell people it's the canopy for your boat's front "porch".(sorry... I know that doesn't help!)

No, no use the paint

Use ole's paint (if its red) and paint a big circle and slash around and through the porsche. Or paint "sponsored by" just above it. Or "my other boat is a" above it. Or paint an S in front and an accent over the e at the end SPorsche. It won't mean anything but only you'll know that. Everyone else will just think you're exclusive!Good luck,Mike

Could be valuable for the right person!

Hi Rob -You'd be surprised how valuable that sail might be. I'll bet that there are several sailboat owners that own Porsches too! eBay is a good idea, especially since the boating stuff is listed in the Automotive category. You could have fun with this; maybe ask the local Porsche dealer if he wants an interesting and unique design item for his show room. Now that I think about it, my boss owns a Porsche AND a 42 Sabre with probably a similar "I" dimension as your boat. Why not place a free ad in Gear Here Classifieds here on this site?
