Hello to all. My boat has been launched. I have completed the charger and 3 batery installation. Gotten the engine running properly (with a minor fuel leak around the fuel filter, I'll fix that very soon) and I have actually sailed her 3 times now. Thanks to all for your help and input. I have another question though. I have searched for used sails and have been unable to find any main sails the exact size. What would be the cost of having a used sail cut to fit? Ot is there a better alternative? Thanks again.

Sail

I just received a catalogue from the Sail Warehouse which seems to have one of the largest assortments of used sails, www.sailwarehouse.com. I measured a sail for a friend of mine last year and they did a pretty good job of making a new sail for him. They use American materials and they are sewn in Thailand as I recall. They list a new sail for a standard Hunter 27 at $650 or $795 with full battens. This includes a leech line, one set of reefing points and 6oz. material. No insignia. They are made by Tasker which received some good comments on this board not too long ago. Since you sail on an inland Lake it should do fine. If you are lucky they may have a used sail , perhaps new old stock, but if it has to be cut down I would probably get the new sail that is designed for your boat. I would also get other quotes including the sailmaker found on this site. You may be able to get some competitive bidding going but it may be a little late in the year for that. Good luck in your search.

Hong Kong Sails

I have an 81 H30t the sails were the orginals and Hawaii trade winds soon blew out the main. I looked around for used sails after learning of the cost of new sails. I too couldn't find anything to fit the exact size. I ended up with a new sail I bought online thru Far East sails. A new main cost $674.00. They can build you whatever you ask with whatever weight sail you want. The e-mail address for their web site is: http://www.fareastsails.com good luck Dan sv Illusions
