I've been looking to upgrade from my Lido 14 and have been studying web sites and different boats that would work with my V6 Ranger, my backyard size and definitely the amount of $$ this will cost! After reading the web sites, looking at pictures, reading a few books and asking a lot of silly questions, I think I really like the Macgregor 22. So my question: What is a good place to look for used sailboats in the Seattle area? I've been monitoring Craigslist which seems to come up with a few every day. There is a Mac 22 for sale on there and the guy offered it to me for $1500, but it has no motor and looks like it needs some work. I'm looking for something around $3500-ish with a motor, swing keel, doesn't have to be in super good shape, but nothing I'd be embarrassed to drop in the water at the nearby lake without a lot of work. I think this may be slightly over the limit of my truck towing limits, but it will only be towed about 2 miles each way from my house to the lake so it should be ok for short tows. Any ideas other than Craigslist? I've looked at some other sites, but haven't found one that really seems to have much in my area. No rush of course, I'm shopping carefully. Winter in Seattle is pretty dark, damp, and miserable so I won't be doing much sailing until early spring.
