Use Raritan Joker valve in Jabsco?

Hello,

I have read that the Raritan ‘Duck Bill’ joker valve is superior to the tri cut Jabsco joker valve. As it’s the same size, will it work in a Jabsco Quiet Flush? Are there unintended consequence? Resistance perhaps too high? Unless I got a bad batch, my last tri cut valve only lasted a few months before a little back flow started to show. Usually I can get a year or two.

Thank you all.

I'm guessing you read Sail Demarva? The author is well known and I consider him an excellent source of information. I used this joker valve for my Jabsco head but the Raritan was a perfect fit. I have had no known issues with it. I replaced it at the beginning of last season.

To more precisely answer your question, the answer is yes. This thread outlines the differences between the cross slit and duck bill style valves.

Various chemicals are harder on the valves than others. Some testing has been done testing on this exact subject.

I have used a Raritan joker on my manual flush Jabsco. Fit well with good long term results.

Excellent replies all, but if I may specify. I keep seeing a good replacement for ‘manual’ heads. I have the Quiet Flush. Although it will fit in the discharge fitting, is there extra strain/ wear on the electric pump?
Going to be changing this out, and would like a peace of mind. Interesting statement about the vertical versus horizontal.

Thank you all,

Thank you all,
Raritan uses the same joker valve for their electric heads.
