I use a soap advertised for boats as being non-toxic, biodegradable and environmentally safe. Is it really? I don't know, I'm no chemist. I do know that I can't afford to pay 275.00 to be pulled out every time I need to wash the boat.

Can't you just go sailing with a scrub brush and a bucket? When you come back to the dock cleaner then when you left tell everyone you love the new antifouling deck paint you used on your decks last time you painted them...:) Just hide the scrub brush down below.

My guess is that these 'eco-thugs' would have nothing to say if you decided to wash your boat with urine. Just use your own, not snail-darter urine.....

Balance and Integrity

I really do appreciate the need for regulation and enforcement in the pursuit of lessening the degradation of natural systems. Having said that, responsible agencies will delegate authority, ease processes and have rapid screening so as to reduce the absurd results that simply breed public hostility and mocking. Lots of these examples are, however, the result of private litigation rather than regulatory, so it isn't simply an agency being over-reaching. It still makes me nuts.
