Has anyone started a get-together thread for the Sailboat Show this year?

I've never gone and had questions for past attendees.

Is it worth it to go on the VIP day and is it worth it to get a "Take the Wheel" ticket?

I wanted to get a good look at multihulls for cruising/liveaboard.

VIP day certainly has fewer crowds.I find it much more enjoyable sans multitudes.

I've been going to the Annapolis Boat Show every other year since they began (Jurassic Period). They are always fun -- and mostly always crowded. If you are interested in a "Take the Wheel" ticket ($150), you better hustle as Friday and Sat are already sold out. Your only choice may be the VIP day, but you get a two-day ticket if you buy the "Take the Wheel" option. While I encourage you to go to the show just for the fun of it, if you are serious about a particular boat, and you seem to local, I think you would be far better off to make an appointment with whoever sells the boat you are interested in and plan on spending a full day there before or after the Boat Show.

So noted. I'll jump on the VIP tickets and talk to the Gemini folks some other time. There are a bunch of them at HHN anyhow, but there weren't any owners on the slips when I was out there last time.

You doing the VIP day this year? I know Princess tried to get folks together last year and I had to miss it.

I don't think I'll make it to the show this year due to some other commitments at that time. While HHS will not give you the names/phone numbers of Gemini owners there, you can ask them to pass your name and phone on to these owners and ask them to call you. I've had that happen to me a number of times at HHN when people interested in the H28.5 asked the marina to have me contact them.

Aren't the Geminis made in Annapolis/Back Creek? Thought they are, or were.

They are built nearby, it's why there are a lot of them up there. I'm just looking hard at multi-hulls now and want to get out on one before doing a lot more research. I want a reasonably sailable liveaboard.

Warren, your advice is well taken. I'll talk to the Gemini and other multi-hull folks at the show and see if I can arrange for some time on the water aboard them.

One thing I'd really like to know is if the Island Packet Packet Cat 35 is remotely worth the price difference over a Gemini.
