Just got the yacht club newsletter for this month and they ran a nice story about how one of the former MBYC junior program sailors, Ryan Porteous, earned a spot on the US Paralympic Sailing Team for Rio 2016. A freak accident left him paralyzed from the neck down when we slipped on a dock during his freshman year in college. It's pretty impressive that he has been so optimistic and has been able to keep sailing after such a tragic accident. And he's certainly put the effort into his rehab -- the article says he can now walk short distances with a walker. Congrats, Ryan and best of luck competing for Team USA!

That's totally awesome. I'm a huge fan of the para games. One of the alternates for the London games is a member of our club. He too had a accident in his youth that left him without the use of one if his arms. He's a demon in a Sonar!
