My father owns a Cat 22 and I would like to give a US Flag for Christmas. Any advise out there for flag size and where you mounted the flag?

flag size

I think the rule of thumb for size is 1 inch of flag length for every foot of boat. p.

Tradition

Traditionally, they're mounted off the transom. You can secure it to your backstay or install a removable teak staff for pretties. That's what I have and honestly, I never put it out. I guess I'm just not as patriotic as most folks (or maybe just a little more lazy)! ;-) LaDonna

Great gift!

I never leave the dock without flying "Old Glory" Then again, I'm a Patriotic guy. I use a rail mount for my grill which doubles as the holder for my flag staff. Works great. Mark Johnson S/V Anthem

Flag

I think I read that the proper size is 1/2 inch per foot of boat length measured on the short side of the flag. Flown from the transom or 1/3rd the distane up the leach of the most aft sail.
