I wish to upgrade the original Hood line drive furling system with a Hood single line reefing system. Is there space below deck in the anchor well to accomodate the new drum?

Below Deck

Scott, I just upgraded my Hood system on a 37.5 and there was room to keep it all below the deck. Imagine it would be similar on yours. Les s/v Mutual Fun

I did too!

Mike, I upgraded mine a couple of years ago with no problems. The specs were the same for both units. The only thing that O had to do was place a halyard retainer on the mast to lower the angle of the halyard coming on to the swivel to prevert "halyard wrap". BTW, call Hood for any exchange deals (www.pompanette.com). They sold me just the head and I was able to use the same extrusion and swivel. This saved a lot of money.

Hood 800SL

I purchased for my 1992 335 the Upgrade kit from Pompanette for less than $500 with the line (core removed for about 1/3rd of its length) . The entire disassemble and re-assembly took less than 1 hour to complete. The new unit is a charm in comparison to the continuous line unit .... it actually will allow you to partially furl the genoa!!! Don't hesitate to make this upgrade. It fits perfectly in the same space as the older unit. Merrill
