I absolutely hate the upholstery in the Oday my husband and I recently purchased. Any suggestions on covers or something? I have dogs and the current fabric is not dog hair friendly.

See what your local sail loft has to offer - it'll be more expensive. That's what I did for my boat many years ago, and I'm still quite satisfied with my decision.

Sailrite.com has a large selection of boat and outdoor fabric. There are also instructions on how to make your own cushions. If you do decide to make new cushions, replace the foam. Foam often harbors a lot of foul odors.

An option to consider is to take the cushions to an automobile upholstery shop to have them duplicated with whatever fabric you desire.
I had a boat that had that herculon upholstery and it was so scratchy ! Hated it.
The Sunbrella line of interior fabrics has some great choices ..

Welcome to the forums here at SBO.
It is difficult to understand how you feel about the vintage boat interior.
It was the late 60's and early 70's when plaid leisure suits were all the rage.

It might have helped if you sucked a sugar cube or found a dot from back in the day.

I do understand a new boat and a desire to upgrade.
If the cushions are still good, then all it will take is some fabric that suits your style.

Certainly, a loft can be helpful with canvas, but @kloudie1's suggestion of an auto upholstery shop may be less costly.

I made slip covers for my c22. I bought fabric that I liked at a place called Joanns.. i used elastic around the edge to keep them on. They cover only the top and sides and a few inches around the bottom edge. Mush cheaper the new custom cushions or re-covering the existing cushions. All you need is time, fabric and a sewing machine. The nice thing is they come off to wash, just make sure to preshrink the fabric before you sew them up. Dano

I like the idea of being able to remove them and wash them, especially with dogs. And thankfully I have friends with sewing machines. This seems like the most cost effective solution! Thank you.

Yes, it is fairly expensive to have new cushions made. I had mine recovered 12 years ago when I bought my boat (five years old). Hated the lime green fabric color, so I had the fabric changed. Foam & bottom material were good, so that was retained. Found a retired guy, from industry, who did upholstery as a new hobby & source of supplemental income. Fabric cost was approximately $500 and labor cost was approximately $2000. Now that I am retired, I would likely go the Sailrite route & DIY.
