Has anyone upgraded the software on an e series Raymarine MFD for the new dock to dock autorouting? My unit is 4 years old and has never been upgraded, and I'm reluctant to insert the MSD card because the instructions are unclear, and the the MFD does not have the previous upgrades that are referred to on the Raymarine site. I do have an msd chip for Platinum series loaded into the unit, which I guess i have to remove before inserting the new msd,. Do I then remove it and reinsert the Platimun chip?

Have you tried the Raymarine web site for the down loading and a few years ago I did the download with the instructions from the ray web site.
I have a C-80 but are you doing the down loading for a newer E series.

you don't have to remove it. The update will execute from the root directory of the MSD chip where the update is stored.
You will have to recalibrate. I had issues with the update where it timed out during the process. The Ray tech site was of help but still not calibrated correctly after the test cruise that needs to be performed.

Verify the version numbers of ALL of the devices in the network. There has been a number of versions that required a different bootloader to upgrade past a certain version. Not a show stopper, but the published process will change depending on the ancillary devices. My i70s were just old enough to require this and it was a fun time as the current (two revisions ago) did not contain the bootloader.

I am getting ready to install a C-80 that was given to me. It came without a map chip. I bought a used one online containing Navionics Gold maps of the South East, but it does not seem to be compatible. how do you verify/update software versions on your C-80? Is there anything in particular that I need to be looking for to ensure a map card is compatible?
