Some power boats don't concern themselves with draft, however, with six feet of keel below I'm constantly checking, double-checking my charts and keeping a constant watch on the depth finder. Cape cod, LI sound has many changes each year. How often are you sailors updating your charts? Electronic charts? Costs? Recommendations?

I enjoy comparing charts from different years
The basic datum doesn't change from year to year on the Chesapeake bay. Most likely you may see shoaling reported 1989. They have been doing a lot of dredging in the shipping channels of late and notice to mariners usually mentions the continuing work. But with careful piloting I could safely cruise the bay with twenty year old charts.
